Description

Unkempt, unruly, and very nearly the same color as fertile soil, Dakamitri's hair generally appears as though the boy may have forgotten (and kept forgetting) to have it trimmed. The rest of him continues in an equally disorderly manner: the boy's height of 5'9" and sleekly muscled physique are lost to an unconsciously awkward posture, while his hazel eyes are often obscured by his messy hairstyle. Dakamitri's features, though sharp and angular, are softened by a conjoint effort between his hair and a bronzy tan. A pair of small, rimless spectacles are perched, and almost always askew, on the bridge of his nose.

So as not to distract from the theme set by his hair, Dakamitri's wardrobe represents the finest in dishevelment. He sports a well-worn, thin white t-shirt, the plentiful wrinkles and creases suggesting that it may have been a part of his wardrobe for quite some time, and most likely as something of an undershirt rather than anything else. It does, at least, provide some useful ventilation on hot Igen days. Baggy brown pants have been doctored up with several patches of cloth in monochromatic shades of black and gray; lastly, a rather worn out pair of black wher-hide boots complete the outfit, setting the boy's appearance off to a tee.

History

Being the latest child in a long line of half-brothers and half-sisters, Dakamitri was often overlooked by his promiscuous green-riding mother, Karena (although, to be fair, not for lack of trying on her part). Like most of his half-siblings, Dakamitri's father was an unknown male dragon-riding denizen of Ista Weyr. Also like most of his half-siblings, he grew up in the care of the weyr's general fostering service (one akin to a much happier and less strict orphanage).

Although born and raised in the sometimes salacious environment of a weyr, Dakamitri managed to turn out bookish, shy, and naive, due in part to his studious and reclusive nature. This same nature crafted him into the most "out of touch with reality" and "socially inept" (according to his brothers, who really know nothing) academic of his copious family. Facts, boring to most, are his gossip, and he has a dreadful habit of forgetting that people are people and not objects for observation and study (actually, his dreadful habit of forgetting is not at all exclusive to the peopleness of people).

Dakamitri also has tendencies to be unnecessarily formal. He's only knowingly called someone by a nickname once in his entire life, and that was a mistake. The fatefully historic moment occurred on his fifteenth turnday, when a couple of his brothers convinced him to join them at a local bar (probably more for their own amusement than Dakamitri's). Lo and behold, he ended up famously drunk and, right before executing a puking and passing out double whammy, managed to slur out the lovely bartender's name. Mawladina (that bartender's name) being too complex for his current state of articulation, he came up with Mawlin, which, luck should have it, was a name the woman was quite accustomed to answering to.

For the most part, Dakamitri has lived a calm and uneventful life (again due in part to his studious and reclusive nature). His lack of prominent parental figures has never bothered him in the least and he's never been interested in finding or meeting his mysterious father. There was, however, an instance when one of his much more emotional and heritage-conscious sisters suggested a mission to find their fathers and he, seeing a great opportunity, went about chronicling the prospective candidates of the weyr and their likelihood of producing any one of Karena's children (he used a lot of really big, colorful charts, because that's what all the cool smart people use).

It was this action in particular that prompted several of Dakamitri's brothers and sisters to make implications toward his inability to function in "real world" capacities. Dakamitri, seeing another great opportunity, went about proving them wrong by translating his overly analytical prowess into the "realness" of stablehanding at Igen Weyr, where he and his family knew no one that he could "mooch off of" (whatever that means).

Hooks

Dakamitri is excessively nerdy and shy, leaving him to enjoy spending much more time with his books and runners than with real people. However, his one true downfall is girls. Like every cliche 1980's movie suggests, this nerd just wants an incredibly attractive girl to fall in love with, and he can be borderline creepy when going about making his affection known.
