Description
There is a certain monotony to Evan's tawny coloring: skin that was golden before the sun deepened the hue and nut-brown hair touched equally with highlights. Of average height, there's athleticism in her easy posture, prone to a slouch or a sprawl, and muscle outweighs spare curves to define her trim waist and the smooth, clean lines of her limbs. Her hair has just enough wave to make it difficult, caramel brown shot with amber streaks that hang stiff about her shoulders as if from too much time in salty or sandy air. Her hair parts over a high, broad forehead - a fivehead really, the kind most girls might try to hide. Almond-shaped eyes have a tendency to narrow beneath dark lashes, and though mischief is more likely to light them than innocence, there is warmth in the rich brown of their color. Her nose might be a touch long, broad and flat, but it's suited to her face, unlikely to garner much notice. Instead, it's a set of full lips that might be her best asset, as suited to a sultry smile as they are to a thin-pressed line of disapproval or a darker, cooler smirk.
Her style is, in a word, casual. In these cooler months she favors well-worn denim; the faded blue sort that boasts threadbare knees and frayed hems. A belt keeps them from slipping off her hipbones entirely, but she never seems to have it cinched quite tight enough to keep them up around her waist, and the too-long legs puddle over scuffed black boots. Fitted tanktops in pale shades cling while button-up shirts are left undone over top more often than not - rich greens, purples or blues a splash of color in a wardrobe otherwise washed out to pale tones.
History
A teen on the cusp of adulthood, Evan ended up at Big Bay Hold in the company of a large trader caravan to which she did not really belong. Stuck there when they left, alone, without anything of value except a horse she stubbornly refused to sell, her prospects were bleak. Bleaker still when she spent most of her time and any money she scrounged up trying to drink herself into an early grave. Desperation won out over sentimentality, but eventually even the horse money ran out, so she was mucking stables for a cot and a place at the hold's dining tables when an Istan bluerider turned her world upside down all over again. The eccentric young blue who insisted on riding Search even though there weren't many eggs on the sands proved to be even more difficult to sway than Evan. Her arguments fell on deaf ears and when she realized she really didn't have much - or anything - to lose, she headed south with him.
Little did she know that she had everything to gain. She entered the sands with a bad attitude and a taste for good whiskey, and left with a slender blue dragon who was her complete opposite in many ways, but her perfect match in all of them.
Weyrlinghood takes discipline, which requires a certain level of commitment and caring - neither of which is Evan's forte. Needless to say, the whole process was almost as much of a challenge as fitting into the hierarchy of a wing. Quilanth just managed to steady her enough to get through both, but none of the wings (and she was shuffled into every one that had a possible place for a blue) did anything but chafe. Eventually the leadership decided that she might do better elsewhere, and heaven only knows what they offered Igen to get the desert Weyr to accept the transfer. The frozen north is not a pleasant prospect and the freedom of the Commerce Wing is a big plus, so even if Igen is a lesser of several evils, she is determined to make it work.
Hooks
She drinks too much, flies too fast, and generally tends to get into trouble. If you are trouble, they should meet!
She is in the commerce wing and is always in the market for jobs. She rides a very quick, small (for a blue) dragon, is good with knives, and can keep her mouth shut.
Late night trips to the Dry Drunkard, a flexible work schedule, and general insomnia mean that Evan keeps really strange hours. Running into her in the middle of the night is not unlikely if you have similar tendencies.
