Description

Nessa's face is roughly oval in shape, longer than it is wide, and comes to a distinct point at her chin. Light red hair falls straight and smooth to below her shoulders, softening the sharpness of her chin. Thin red brows top blue eyes, which in turn frame a medium nose. Her lips are full but not plump, and are more often moved to smile than frown.
Nessa is of average height, standing just over five and a half feet. While she stills bears some of the softness of features often called 'baby fat' she has little in the way of curves elsewhere on her slender frame. Her skin tone is pale but shows tanning, suggesting she spends time out of doors regularly.

Nessa usually wears simple pairings of blouse and skirt, each carefully selected to avoid conflict between her coloring and the cloth. Her blouses tend to be of the long sleeved variety with square necklines of a modest cut. Her skirts are modest as well, full-bodied and falling to her ankles, allowing her favored slippers or half-boots to peek out. She generally wears shades of blue and black, though the occasional red or purple item will appear in her wardrobe. Brown and green are very rare, as only a few hues will not clash with her skin and hair. She wears the knot of a resident of Igen Weyr.

History

Nessa was born and raised at Igen Weyr. She is the middle child and only daughter of the greenrider Corissa, and the youngest daughter of Corissa's on-again/off-again brownrider weyrmate, N'vin, who has sired five other children. Her parents are both riders in the transport wing, and Corissa chose to foster each of her children because of her busy schedule. So Nessa grew up in the care of one of the Weyr's tailors, an older man by the name of Menard, who was perfectly willing to raise the girl and, in time, teach her a bit about sewing. While Nessa certainly has deft fingers and can mend most items, she never showed enough skill to merit apprenticing as a Weaver. She works now as a seamstress for the Weyr, mending and altering everyday garments to ensure they fit and remain presentable.

Hooks

Nessa is one of the more popular young seamstresses at the Weyr for her generally pleasant nature and her skill with needle and thread. While she may not have qualified to go to the Hall, she is quite good at mending and is known to be the go-to seamstress for emergency repairs.

Nessa is friendly unless someone does something she thinks is stupid, at which point she can be quite abrasive in calling them on it. Many of her peers have seen both sides of her in action, and probably been subjected to her cutting remarks on at least one occasion.

Nessa's mother Impressed at Fort Weyr after being Searched from the Healer Hall, where she was an apprentice. She has maintained her ties with that Weyr and Hall even after having transferred to Igen, and those connections landed her a monthly transport job with one of the journeymen at the Hall. Corissa transports various beauty supplies - perfumes, ungents, lotions, and even some kinds of makeup - for the journeyman, who makes them in her spare time. This has led to Nessa having a great way to get free or inexpensive beauty supplies, and she often shares this bounty with others.
