Decimalized currency is a new thing on our Pern, adopted because of increased trade and more complicated taxation. There are still fractional marks in circulation and not everybody likes the new system.
Basically, one mark is currently equal to about $10. (Please bear in mind that even with new technology, here, consumer goods on Pern would cost approximately what custom goods would cost on Earth, not the stuff you get at Walmart.)
1m10, or one mark ten pieces, is therefore about $11. This would be just a little less than one mark and an eighth, under the old system, which would be about $12.50.
Marks are issued by all major Crafts and the value of a particular Craft's marks can fall when that Craft's reputation does, such as when the Starcraft first announced the Red Star's return and were widely denounced as crackpots.
